viii, pp 1-191 [1] Adverts. A sequel to The Pilgrim's Progress which has been inscribed on the endpaper by the author to her friend: 'A Elliott from the Author'. Mary Ann Burges and Anne Elliot were part of a high powered circle of female friends in south west England centred around the Devon town of Honiton. Much of their correspondence survives and the group included the artist and diarist Elizabeth Gwillim who would go on to marry John Graves Simcoe, the first Lieutenant Governor of Upper Canada. The book is in a contemporary calf binding with pretty neo-classical gilt decoration and a black spine label. The binding is sound with some rubbing to the front panel. Internally the text is fine.
