A folio-sized, folding sheet (bifolium)which is effectively a 1790 invoice for postal charges, from John Brown, Drover, to Thomas Lister, First Lord Ribblesdale, the MP for Clitheroe. The first leaf itemises around seventy journeys made by Brown such as 'With letters to Skipton' and 'Stratford Hay Corn and Hostler', with prices in the right hand column and a grand total. Brown has tipped his receipt to the recto of the second leaf of the bifolium with annotations to the verso regarding 'John Brown's account. A calligraphic label appears on the final verso: 'Old George Inn (Now the Ribblesdale Arms Posting Charges '. Old fold marks and some drying to the paper. A vintage photograph of a pack of horses and hounds assembling in front of the Ribblesdale Arms accompanies the document, probably c. 1900.
