[36] pp 774 [44] Andrew Fletcher of Saltoun's beautifully bound copy with his ownership signature on the title page and acquisition note on the first blank. Finely bound folio in blind-stamped pig skin, large strapwork-filled device to boards with blind fillet and double fillets providing framing. Five raised bands to the spine with a paper spine label 'Plotini Opera' and a small diamond shaped paper label at the foot of the spine numbered in ink '208'; remnants of another paper label at the head of the spine with the number '9'. Fletcher has noted the cost of his acquisition apparently in Dutch florins and guilders on the first blank: 'Const: 7: fl. 10 gul: 10 st: Pares 10...' Presumably the book was acquired in the low countries during the 1680s while Fletcher was in exile. The book itself is in fine condition throughout. Fletcher of Saltoun was a writer and Scottish patriot who created the largest private library in the country in the last seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries.
