Eslanda Goode Robeson's highly critical biography of her husband, the singer and actor Paul Robeson with a letter from Mrs Robeson tipped in and a separate list of 'Records by Paul Robeson' annotated by the author to highlight those 'which Mr. Robeson considers important and typical' The typed letter probably written during Robeson's 1934 British tour, was written to Canon A W Parsons (vicar of St. John, Boscombe, Bournemouth, Hon Canon of Winchester) from the Adelphi in London, inviting Canon and Mrs Parsons to 'come back stage at Leicester, after the concert is over, and say hello to Mr. Robeson. He will be looking forward to it.' Additionally Eslanda Robeson has enclosed 'your list' with her annotations and additions relating to songs such as 'Lonely Road', 'Lazy Bones' and 'The Canoe Song'. A W Parsons' bookplate appears on the first paste-down; the book is near very good, fading to the boards, a small splash-mark on the spine and spotting to the book's edges. Internally very good plus, occasional annotation presumably by the Parsons. Eslanda Robeson was an anthropologist, author and civil rights activist. In this book which outraged her husband she addresses Paul Robeson's repeated infidelities, commenting that 'No matter what other women have done to you, or you to them, they have in no way walked in my garden.'
