pp 1-362 [6] Notes. Pevsner's guide to Northumberland with a letter by the author and another by his secretary relating to the book laid in. Using Buildings of England notepaper Pevsner writes to a Mr Meyer in Newcastle about 'two cottages' apparently in West Haddon, suggesting alternative means to research their history, noting that 'it is very rare that my materials included reference to such buildings.' The letter is dated August 1959 and signed in blue ink. It is preceded by a letter to the same correspondent from July of the same year, Judy A Mayes, Pevsner's Secretary, about the same buildings, noting that Kelly's refers to them as 'remains of Jacobean manor house now a cottage dwelling' promising to show the letter to Dr Pevsner 'when he returns' from abroad. The book is very good, with a little foxing, in a near very good jacket with some wear at the head and foot of the spine.
