Two volumes recording prizes awarded to pupils of Giggleswick School by the head, the first class cricketer and priest, Robert Noel Douglas. Small quarto format, bound in limp red morocco, binding of first volume signed by 'Houghton and Gunn, 162 Bond St. W.' (later Asprey), marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. The first album begins in July 1905 and runs to 1922 (Douglas took over as head in 1910). The second volume begins in 1922 and runs to 1930 when Douglas left the school. About 100 pages per book with one entry per page recording the student's name, subject and date of the prize awarded, thus the future Major General Sir Duncan Cumming who would govern Kordofan Province, Sudan, and rise to be President of the Royal Geographical Society is recorded as receiving a prize thus: 'D. C. Cumming July 16 [1918] Essay'. A variety of hands are present.
