pp 444 Association copy revealing Arthur Balfour's fascination with Handel - his Handel collection is how held by the National Library of Scotland. Tipped in after the title page a typed, signed letter from Balfour on 'Whittingehame, Prestonkirk' headed paper, October 1924, to Richard Goulding about 'your brochure on Lady Oxford' which he promises to read 'in memory of the evenings we spent together at Welbeck' where he had also discussed his Handel collection with Goulding. The ALS is signed, 'Balfour'. Richard Goulding's ownership signature appears on the first blank above an old library pocket followed by a tipped in 2 page autograph letter from C Bliss of Welbeck Abbey to Goulding: 'Lord Balfour has informed me...' about a 'Bernard Lens miniature of Handel, which was sent to him by a correspondent in Norfolk...' The final letter from Goulding to Balfour's private secretary is a two page typed, signed copy by Grahame of his letter 'returning the photograph of the miniature of Handel' and discussing Lens' miniatures of the composer. The book has an inked number on the verso of the title page and a white number at the base of the spine. Otherwise a very good book which contains a chapter by Balfour about Handel. Balfour's
