Privately printed account of a trip to the USA and Canada by the editor, later owner, of the Harrogate Herald in north Yorkshire. Publisher's brown cloth with title in gilt to the upper cover, staining to cloth. Yellow coated endpapers with Ackrill's presentation inscription to the first free endpaper: 'Charles Frederic Dawson With the kind regards of The Author.' Browning to paper stock, cracking along the inner hinges but the binding is sound. A scarce book. Robert Ackrill (1816-1894) was a former printer who became the editor of the Harrogate Herald before becoming its owner and in the 1870s buying the rival paper, the Harrogate Advertiser. In the UK Worldcat locates only the Brotherton Library copy.
