William Morris-influenced collection of illustrated carols in what appears to be a variant binding or perhaps a later bespoke effort.
Blue full-sheepskin binding with raised spine bands, several chips to the leather, fading around the spine. Book label of ‘Adam White’ to the front pastedown which has creased slightly as it was pasted onto the inside of the upper board. Printed on Van Gelder watermarked paper, internally fine.
Arthur Gaskin taught at the Birmingham Art School where he exerted considerable influence over the Arts and Crafts movement. Among the artists who contributed illustrations are Mary Newill, Violet Holden and Mildred Peacock.
