Suecia Antiqua et Hodierna

A nineteenth century facsimile reprint of this great work of Swedish topography. This edition presents 361 pages of plates, many of them folding or multi-folding. In addition to the title pages there are portraits, maps and hundreds of views of cities, castles, gardens and palaces. The Suecia was originally published at the end of the seventeenth century. This photographic reprint appears to be mid-nineteenth century with a quarter leather binding over marbled boards. The images are approximately 30cm x 22cm. Each of the images has a manuscript page number and minute annotations at the top right of the page leading to the suspicion that this may have been a proof copy for one of the nineteenth century reprints. The book gives no clue to the date of publication and none of the text is present in this version.
