[viii] [2] pp 3-246 A signed First Edition of Emily Beatrix Coursolles Jones's 1924 novel. Jones has inscribed the front free endpaper 'Dennis Proctor from the author May 1928'. Emily Jones was a modernist writer, author of two books of poetry, the editor of a modernist poetry anthology, and author of five novels. She was briefly married to the critic and writer F L Lucas and had links with Bloomsbury group. Some of her letters to Julian Bell are held at Charleston and she wrote to Vanessa Bell on the death of Virginia Woolf. The text of this signed First Edition is clean and fresh with a replacement printed spine label laid in. The boards are heavily stained and marked.
