[2] pp 1-6 A controversial pamphlet bearing a false imprint, being published in London, not Oxford as stated, on December 12 1642. The pamphlet dates from the first months of the Civil War after Charles has raised his standard in Nottingham - and set up his court in Oxford. The text of the pamphlet rails against the king's enemies, lamenting, 'Is there any thing now left to enjoy, but the Liberty to Rebell and destroy one another? are the outward blessings of Peace, Property, and Liberty, taken, and forced from our subjects?' An interesting contribution to the ongoing debate about the legality - and morality - of attempting to overthrow the monarch. The publication runs to a single quarto gathering. It is sewn together but there is no binding. Despite some browning and a little staining along the top of the pages, the pamphlet is in good condition for such a delicate item.
