[5] pp 6-99 [100] An early guide to playing hockey by the English international de Lisle Solbe. Illustrated with diagrams Solbe works his way through field plans, notes on players and positions before printing the Rules of the Game and 'Hints for Critical Moments' such as 'Be always unselfish, but do not exaggerate the virtue.' This scarce little book is bound in red cloth with a hockey player on the front board and some marking to the rear board. The text is clean and complete with a few early pencilled annotations to the 'Notes on the Rules' which my hockey-playing wife believes were noted by an umpire.
